Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How quickly can I get an appointment?
Appointment availability is accessible on this website by clicking on the ‘book appointment’ button. You can therefore book the next available appointment that’s suitable for you. Face-to-face clinics hold on Saturdays usually at 1:15pm (although other appointment times may be available also); and there is the option of Tuesday evening virtual appointments. You may also call us to see if other arrangements can be made in exceptional situations.
Q2. How much does an assessment cost?
A face-to-face appointment costs £1099 and is scheduled to last no more than 2 hours. A virtual appointment costs £999; and a follow-up appointment, £258. All face-to-face appointments are held at our Wimpole Street Clinic in London. All payments are made at the time of booking on this website.
Q3. Can I get an appointment on Zoom or MS Teams?
Yes, you can book a virtual appointment on zoom (not MS Teams). These are usually Tuesday evenings for an initial ADHD assessment. All follow-up appointments are done virtually on Zoom.
Q4. What is your cancellation policy?
To secure an appointment for an ADHD assessment or follow-up appointment, full payment is required. Notice of cancellation must be made in writing by e-mail to admin@adhddoctor.co.uk. Notice of cancellation should be made as soon as possible. The following applies when an appointment is cancelled: 14 days or more before the appointment, a full refund less third-party costs is offered. Third party costs are charges incurred by the clinic at the time of booking related to reservation of clinic facilities, credit card charges and consultant parking fee reservations. Less than 14 days but more than 7 days before the appointment, a 75% refund is offered. Less than 7 days but more than 2 days before the appointment, a 50% refund is offered. Less than 2 days before the appointment, no refund is made. If cancellation is due to unavoidable and unforeseen medical reasons (evidenced by a qualified medical doctor’s note), a full refund will be offered less third-party costs, if rescheduling the appointment is declined. Refunds are processed within 28 days of a valid request.
Q5. How long after the assessment must I wait for the report?
You should be in receipt of the assessment report within 7-10 days of the assessment.
Q6. What happens if my GP declines the shared care arrangement?
Unfortunately, an increasing number of GPs are refusing to share care with private providers and will decline these requests. You may wish to appeal this decision with your GP or change practices were possible. Alternatively, you can continue under the care of your consultant here at ADHD doctor under a special arrangement; details of which are available on request.
Q7. What is a QbCheck, and will my child be required to take one?
A QbCheck is a relatively new FDA approved continuous perform test available to support the diagnosis of ADHD when the typical retinue of evidence is insufficient to make a diagnosis. The test is only taken when indicated and a diagnosis is usually possible without it. Your consultant will advise if a QbCheck is necessary.
Q8. Do you provide a service for children and adolescent only?
Yes. Our consultants are specialists in paediatric psychiatry, and assessments are done for children and young people between the ages of 6 and 17. In a few exceptions, treatment may continue beyond a young person’s 18th birthday but soon after, a referral is usually made to an adult psychiatrist with ADHD expertise.
